Dr. White’s Ph.D. was awarded in 1986 by the University of Manchester, UK for research into renal anion transport. He was then awarded a prestigious Beit Memorial Fellowship, which he held in the Department of Cellular & Molecular Physiology at Yale University Medical School. From 1992, in the UK he was supported by a Medical Research Council Senior Fellowship, and as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield to carry out research into the cellular and molecular mechanisms of renal potassium secretion, as well as teaching in all areas of Human Physiology. In 2002 he joined the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Leeds, where he continued his research and teaching. At Leeds, He was Leader for degree programs in Human Physiology; a member of the faculty learning and teaching board as well as the curriculum development and enhancement group in Biomedical Sciences. In the educational arena, he has been an external examiner at various universities for several degree programs as well as numerous PhD and MD theses. He has acted as a consultant for innovative laboratory teaching in Biological Sciences courses for the Open University, and was joint coordinator of the annual Wellcome Trust “Molecular Physiology” Practical Workshop from 1999 to 2006. Dr. White has served on the Council of the Physiological Society and as a member of the Education sub committee. He was a scientific panel member of Kidney Research UK, and is a member of the Physiological Society, and the American Physiological Society.
Dr. White was Associate Editor for the international journal: “Nephron Physiology” from 2002 – 2008, and has published numerous papers in internationally peer-reviewed journals as well as articles and book chapters. Dr. White joined Ross University in 2010 as a professor of Physiology, and became Associate Dean, Center for Teaching and Learning in 2013. His current research is in the effectiveness of technological platforms to enhance medical teaching and learning.
