Dr. James Grogan’s Ph.D. degree was awarded for research into the biophysics of metallo-phosphoproteins by the University of California, followed by five years as a post-doc in the Laboratory of Molecular Carcinogenesis at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland USA. A further three years were spent as an Associate Professor at Ross University School of Medicine. This was then followed by three years in the Department of Oral Biology at Boston University Medical Center in the United States, prior to returning to Dominica as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Genetics at Ross University School of Medicine, to teach gene regulation and metabolism.
