Dr. Jaime Martinez, family physician, establishes practice at Sarah Bush Lincoln in Illinois

September 12, 2013

Dr. Jaime Martinez (RUSM ‘09) is the newest physician serving patients in the Charleston, SC area. He recently moved to Charleston with his wife, Nicole Jones-Martinez, who is a psychiatrist. A Chicago native, Dr. Martinez received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. He worked for three years as a medical underwriter for an insurance company before entering medical school. Born to Mexican parents and fluent in Spanish, Dr. Martinez took advantage of an opportunity to begin medical school at UAG School of Medicine in Mexico. After two years, he transferred to Ross University School of Medicine so that he could complete his clinical rotations in the United States. He completed his residency training at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Illinois. Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center is a 128-bed, not-for-profit, regional hospital centrally located in East Central Illinois' Coles County, and is the recipient of the 2011 Illinois Performance Excellence Gold Award for Achievement of Excellence, the highest performance honors in the state.
