The keynote address was delivered by RUSM alumna, Sherri D. Onyiego, MD, PhD., FAAFP, AAHIVS, who graduated in 2005. Since 2009, Dr. Onyiego has served as an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Currently she is the Medical Director of the San Jose Clinic in Houston, Texas. She is also a provider for the Harris Health System's Thomas Street Health Center, a freestanding comprehensive HIV/AIDS clinic. In addition she serves as a preceptor to medical students, residents, and nurse practitioners.

Touring the RUSM campus with her husband, Leonid, and their children Gabriel, 4, and Grace, 2, Dr. Onyiego said she was impressed with the advances that have been made since she was a student. She noted the technological developments in the expanded Simulation Institute and the anatomy facility with its medical imaging.
