The Integumentary System module, Part I

The Integumentary System module, Part I, covers the normal microscopic anatomy and function of skin, basic biological concepts and terminology related to basic skin lesions.. Medical entomology will be discussed with emphasis on vectors and mode of transmission. Common clinical skin conditions such as heat stroke, wound healing, burns, protozoans, and worms will be explained. Concepts of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics as well as drugs affecting the adrenergic and cholinergic systems are introduced. Topics presented in anatomy will include ear and oral cavity, larynx and lymphatics, further radiologic studies of the head and neck, and peripheral anatomy and function of cranial nerves.
