I want to serve on the Alumni Council because I really enjoyed my experience at Ross. As a Caribbean School we got professors from varying countries with different approaches to medicine. As a resident now, I definitely see this as a plus because it gave me a broader perspective and a more clinical approach to patient care. While at Ross, I started the Ross University School of Medicine SNMA Chapter. To date this chapter is now one of the largest chapters in the organization. To extend on this vision I hope to one day incorporate the organization with the school on a level where prior SNMA members/ Ross graduates can return to the island and volunteer services. Leaving Ross I felt prepared for residency and I would like to be involve in the future of the school and eradicating the stigma that Caribbean schools are 2nd best to US schools. My first step towards this is participating in the Ross SOM panel for perspective students in NY on 9/19.
