North Brunswick, NJ–June 22, 2010—On June 4th, DVM Newsmagazine interviewed US Congressman Kurt Schrader, DVM (D-OR), at Madison Square Garden in New York City before Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine’s commencement ceremony. Congressman Schrader offered his thoughts on animal welfare, public health, veterinary education and veterinary medicine’s role in responding to disasters.

“I want to thank Ross University for giving me the opportunity to put veterinary medicine on the radar screen for the country at large,” he said.

Speaking directly to the graduates he advised them to “be aggressive and assertive in your approach to veterinary medicine. You are the future. There will be great opportunity for you to set the stage for how we deal with all sorts of critical issues going forward in this county.”
