From overcoming the challenges of homelessness to graduating from the University of Arkansas with a 3.9 GPA, RUSM’s newest enrollee Quiana Childress can be described as driven and she is well positioned for a successful experience at the university. Childress will join RUSM’s incoming summer class on May 6 with a wealth of experiences including undergraduate research at Yale University School of Medicine and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

“A talented student like Quiana perfectly fits the profile of an RUSM student, who has both immeasurable potential, as well as a strong personal commitment to achieving her goals, regardless of the obstacles in her way,” said Carey James, associate dean and director of Admissions at RUSM. “We are proud to welcome her to the RUSM community.”

Childress is a former research fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), a division of the US Department of Health and Human Services. Read more about her in a recent article featured in the April issue of NIEHS’s newsletter Environmental Factor.
