Did you know Ross University went ‘Platinum?’

Carolina, Isla Verde, Puerto Rico - On Sunday, April 30, 2006, Ross University School of Medicine and School of Veterinary Medicine participated as a Platinum sponsor for the first annual 5K Race benefiting Fondos Unidos (United Way of Puerto Rico) and sponsored by American Airlines in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Race was held in Carolina, Isla Verde with the five mile route traveling through many streets around the San Juan airport.

Since many Ross University medical and veterinary students fly into Puerto Rico for connecting flights leading to their final destination of either Dominica or St. Kitts, Ross University was an obvious sponsor.

“Ross University is honored to be a participant and partner with two organizations that are as committed to serving people as we are,” said Dr. Thomas Shepherd, President of Ross University.

The event kicked off at 8:30 am and ended at 6:00 pm. Over 1,000 spectators showed their support for the runners and cheered them onto the finish line. Regardless of the runner’s time, everyone who was involved with this Race realized it was for a worthy cause. The 5K Race included more than 2,000 registered runners.

“Ross University, American Airlines and Fondos Unidos all share the same commitment – to deliver quality products that serve people,” Dr. Shepherd added.

Fondos Unidos is non-profit private organization dedicated to strengthening the social and health care services in Puerto Rico. Fondos Unidos has given over thirty five years of service to the Puerto Rican Community.

Since 1934, American Airlines, Inc. has provided travelers with safe and dependable air transportation.
