Dr. William Lynn Weaver Joins RUSM as Senior Associate Dean, Dominica Campus

William Lynn Weaver, MD, FACS, has joined Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) in the position of Senior Associate Dean, Dominica Campus. “Dr. Weaver brings a wealth of outstanding professional experience, accomplishments, and skill to RUSM,” said RUSM Dean and Chancellor Joseph A. Flaherty. “I know that he will provide the exemplary leadership that will be instrumental in achieving our goals of continually improving students’ experiences and outcomes.”

A professor of surgery at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Weaver spent 13 years as chairman of the department and as program director for the Surgery Residency Program until 2009. He earned his B.S. degree in pharmacy from Howard University College of Pharmacy in Washington, D.C. and his MD from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. His General Surgery Residency was completed at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. During his tenure as Chair, MSM surgical residents won first and second place in the American College of Surgeons, Georgia Chapter, for scientific papers and first and third nationally. He has served as president of the Atlanta Medical Association, and is active in professional and civic organizations including the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, United Negro College Fund, Urban League, and the Georgia Medical Care Community Coalition. In 2006 he established a mentorship program with Douglass High School, matching students with first-year residents. He is also the author and co-author of dozens of publications, and he is the recipient of numerous awards and honors.


Dr. Weaver and his wife Kathryn Anderson Weaver, an educator and school media specialist, are the parents of six children, four of whom are in medical professions. They are the proud grandparents of three grandsons.
