Dr. Brent Murchie, 31, chief resident in internal medicine at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston is a notably successful alumnus of Ross University School of Medicine who will soon see more Ross students at the teaching hospital thanks to an expanded affiliation agreement between the institutions. With the addition of surgery rotations, Ross students can now apply for nearly 30 rotations at that hospital, including anesthesiology, infectious disease, neurology, plastic surgery, and pulmonary medicine.

From the time that Dr. Murchie was a little boy he knew that he wanted to be a physician and to “fix people,” he said. “I looked at Ross as a place that gave me a shot at being a doctor and I always think about that. This is something I wanted very badly. I worked very hard. I look at where I am now, compared to where I was seven years ago, and it’s all because of Ross.”

Dr. Murchie will complete the third year of his residency in June and secured a three-year fellowship program in gastroenterology at Cleveland Clinic. He said he has been fascinated by that body system since doing his clinical rotation in that area at Cleveland Clinic Florida when he was a medical student.
