Ross University Professor publishes "A Secret Place: Reflection of Dominica"

Edison, N.J. – In a departure from his day job teaching students at one of the leading international providers of medical education, Dr. Peter Bellot, Chair of the Department of Pathology at Ross University School of Medicine, has released a book of photographs entitled “A Secret Place: Reflections of Dominica.” A collaboration with his wife, Maria Bellot, who contributes poetry to the book, “A Secret Place” is a collection of photographs of Dominica, the Bellots’ native country and the home of Ross University School of Medicine. Dr. Bellot and his wife have been documenting Dominican life and landscapes in images and words for years and decided to self-publish the book to honor both the country and the School of Medicine’s most recent graduates, all of whom received it as a gift following their June commencement ceremony.

“Photography has been a hobby of mine since I was a very young boy growing up in Dominica,” said Dr. Bellot. “I realized I had such a great collection of photographs – and, complemented with my wife’s poems, a book seemed like an ideal project.”

Dr. Bellot published the book with Mechling Bookbindery in Pennsylvania. It is available for purchase in a number of stores in Dominica including Fadelle’s, Ego’s and J’s bookstore as well as on Mechling’s website at:

Dr. Bellot is currently working on his second book, a collection of photos documenting the Kalinago people, the original natives of Dominica.
