Ross University School of Medicine Expands Clinical Rotations in New York

North Brunswick, NJ–December 15, 2010—Ross University is pleased to announce that the School of Medicine has entered into a clinical affiliation agreement with Jamaica Hospital Medical Center (JHMC)  to provide students with clinical instruction and several new core and elective rotations.

Part of the MediSys Health Network, JHMC is a 431-bed, fully accredited community teaching hospital with a large network of community-based ambulatory care centers that has become a location of choice for some of the nation’s finest medical training programs.

"The agreement will ensure that Ross students receive education and clinical training in the core rotations of obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry, surgery and internal medicine and in a number of high-quality elective rotations, all under the supervision of Jamaica Hospital’s clinical teaching faculty whose outstanding reputation is well-established.  Ross students will be provided with a level of instruction that is superior in every respect," said Enrique S. Fernandez, MD, senior associate dean for clinical sciences at Ross University School of Medicine.

Combined, the four hospitals within the MediSys Health Network treat over 250,000 Emergency Department patients each year. The network boasts two level-one trauma centers, three nursing homes, three rehabilitation centers, a state-of-the-art Traumatic Brain Injury Unit, and a team of world-renowned neurosurgeons.

Aside from JHMC, Ross University’s additional clinical training sites in New York include, but are not limited to, Maimonides Medical Center, New York Downtown Hospital and New York Methodist Hospital.
