*RUSM has a first-time residency attainment rate of 96%, calculated as the percent of students attaining a 2025-26 residency position out of graduates or expected graduates in 2024-25 who were active applicants in the 2025 NRMP match or who attained a residency position outside the NRMP match. AUC’s first-time residency attainment rate for 2024-2025 graduates and expected graduates is 95%. SABA’s four-year residency placement rate of 97% is calculated as the percent of students attaining a residency position out of all graduates or expected graduates in 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 who were active applicants in the NRMP match or attained a residency outside the NRMP match. As of July 17, 2025, they have not published their 2025 rates. SGU’s US residency placement rate of 94% pertains to graduates over five years from 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 with the rate calculated as the total number of students/graduates who obtained a US residency divided by the total number of students/graduates who applied to a US residency program in a given year as of April 2025.
Step UP to Success Grant – May 2026 start
May 2026 Start
The Step UP to Success grant at RUSM was created to support Pre-Step 1 students in their preparation for and success in taking the USMLE® Step 1 and beginning their clinical rotations. The grant offers a minimum of $19,000 with a maximum of $34,000 possible by achieving key academic milestones. (All amounts in U.S. dollars)
- Pre-Step 1 students who completed medical sciences with RUSM and are registered for the May 2026 Clinical Reasoning Capstone (“CRC”) Elective. Students with a Med Science course grade of incomplete “I” are not eligible for the grant.
- Students registered for the May 2026 CRC will receive this grant at the minimum level of $19,000 structured as follows:
- $15,000 in tuition discount applicable toward tuition costs for the May 2026 CRC.
- Accommodation in RUSM campus housing (in the Villages at Coverley) for any assigned tier for the May 2026 CRC (up to 15 weeks), with a value of not less than $4,000.
- The housing grant is applicable only within RUSM campus housing at the Villages of Coverley and is non-transferable.
- A student enrolled in RUSM’s CRC with the Step UP to Success grant AND who:
Completes CRC, passes the CBSE* administered in CRC with a score of 63 or higher, and
*When the CBSE is not available, an alternative exam will be provided by RUSM with a minimum passing score (MPS) published in the CRC syllabus.
- Takes and passes the USMLE Step 1 on the first attempt, after passing CRC, within two (2) semesters of completing CRC, and
- Begins clinical rotations no longer than 90 days after RUSM receipt of USMLE Step 1 score;
shall be awarded an additional $15,000 in grants to be equally distributed between clinical science semesters six (6) through ten (10) as denoted by student’s clinical science semester designation.
The escalator defined above is stackable with the minimum grant to produce a maximum grant of $34,000.
