Places of Worship:

There are a variety of places to worship in Barbados.  Students can find churches, synagogues and mosques around the Island.  (Interesting fact: Bridgetown is home to one of the oldest Jewish Synagogues in the western Hemisphere.)  Many students go through the student organizations for their worship needs.   RUSM is proud to offer the following religious organizations, many of whom partner with local religious groups on the Island:

  • Ross Christian Fellowship
  • Ross Catholic Student Association
  • Jewish Student Association
  • Ross Adventist Fellowship
  • Muslim Student Association
  • Sikh Student Association

Barbados Guide:

From white sand beaches to colonial style buildings in Bridgetown, Barbados is full of natural and man-made attractions.

Safety/Security:

There is 24 hour security at RUSM Housing in the Villages of Coverley, as well as security on campus.  Students must wear their student ID at all times while on campus.

Transportation:

RUSM Housing at the Villages of Coverley is conveniently located approximately 2 miles from the airport and about 15-20 minutes on average from campus.

TAXIS: Taxis are ready available in Barbados.

BUSES: There is very affordable public transportation in Barbados.

RUSM SHUTTLES: Shuttles run daily from housing to campus, on average about every 10-15 minutes from 5:00 am to 1:00 am, more often during peak traffic times.

CAAM-HP badge

Ross University School of Medicine is accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP, www.caam-hp.org).

CAAM-HP is the legally constituted body established in 2003 under the aegis of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), empowered to determine and prescribe standards and to accredit programs of medical, dental, veterinary and other health professions education on behalf of the contracting parties in CARICOM.

Accreditation by CAAM-HP is a rigorous, peer review process which examines all aspects of a medical program. The CAAM-HP board, an independent and autonomous body of professionals, only certifies medical schools which are operating at the highest levels of industry standards.

Through this accreditation, the CAAM-HP provides assurance to medical students, graduates, the medical profession, healthcare institutions, and the public that programs leading to qualifications in medicine meet appropriate national and international standards for educational quality, and that the graduates have a sufficiently complete and valid educational experience.
