HOST Student FAQs
Greetings Students! For your convenience, a list of FAQs is available for reference below. If you have any additional questions, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at [email protected]
HOST availabilities vary based on the locations of the RUSM alumni population and are paired on a first come, first served basis. To assist us in the matching process, please submit your requests well in advance of any upcoming interviews with a minimum of two weeks' notice. We recommend securing refundable accommodations for all HOST requests and you will be notified immediately if an Alumni HOST Ambassador is available in your area.
HOW OFTEN MAY I USE THE HOST PROGRAM?
Each student can be matched a maximum of five (5) times. However, you may submit unlimited requests, keeping in mind that we process matches on a rolling basis and you may not be matched in all cities. Matches exceeding this limit will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Alumni Relations will continue to facilitate host connections until all resources have been allocated. Please complete the form for each trip where you would like to be connected with a host. Students must create a profile with their initial request and will have the ability to add additional HOST locations at a later time.
WHO ARE HOST AMBASSADORS?
All HOST ambassadors are graduates of Ross University School of Medicine.
WILL HOST BE AVAILABLE IN EVERY CITY, AT DIFFERENT POINTS THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE YEAR?
This is a volunteer effort administered by Alumni Relations. Although we plan to have a rapidly expanding pool of HOST ambassadors, please understand that this program may not be available in every destination city on every date. In general, requests for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day cannot be filled. Likewise, requests for stays around other holidays may be difficult to fulfill.
WHERE IS HOST AVAILABLE?
HOST is a new program and as such, the database of ambassadors is expanding. The overarching goal is to have HOST ambassadors situated throughout the U.S. and Canada to accommodate student travels.
CAN I STAY WITH A HOST AMBASSADOR FOR MORE THAN ONE DAY?
Length of stay will depend on the availability of the HOST ambassador. Some alumni may host students for multiple days for multiple interviews in the area. Others may host students for a maximum of one or two days. We will work with our HOST ambassadors to best suit your travel needs.
MAY I BRING MY SPOUSE TO STAY WITH ME?
Many HOST ambassadors welcome spouses. Please note on the registration form if you will be traveling with your spouse.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY HOST AMBASSADOR?
We simply ask the HOST ambassador to provide the services they originally registered for. Some may volunteer to go beyond this to offer other travel needs including but not limited to transportation to and from interviews and airports; home cooked meals; tours of the area; and professional insight on the area's medical community and your prospective medical center.
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR THE HOST PROGRAM?

WHAT DO I DO IF MY TRAVEL PLANS CHANGE OR I NEED TO CANCEL?
We understand that plans may change, last minute interviews may arise, and/or you may decide to cancel an interview or a host visit. Please be respectful of the host’s time and schedule by contacting them immediately to let them know about the change in your plans. Also, please inform Alumni Relations of the changes at (754) 707-5549 or [email protected]
DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING AFTER RETURNING FROM MY INTERVIEW TRAVEL?
Yes! Please send a thank you note/email to your HOST ambassador. Also, please contact Alumni Relations with any exciting information, photos, or other positives experiences. We also request both students and HOST ambassadors submit a HOST Program evaluation form.
