Biography
Dr. Deborah Dalmeida MBBS MD MEHP is an award-winning educator and leader, with over ten years of experience in teaching pathology and pathophysiology. She earned her medical degree and specialty training in Pathology in India at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and is also ECFMG-certified. Dr. Dalmeida has played a key leadership role in the continuous enhancement of integrated, organ systems-based curriculum, having served as Co-Chair of the Department of Pathophysiology, member of the curriculum committee, chair of curricular subcommittees, Course director of the foundations, cardiovascular and renal system courses in previous institutions.
Known for her dynamic, research-supported teaching methods, Dr. Dalmeida has led the design of novel educational sessions to foster the integration of basic and clinical sciences. She has spearheaded multiple strategic initiatives to scaffold student learning and promote long-term retention of core concepts. Her interdisciplinary collaborations and educational scholarship are geared toward nurturing medical students' clinical reasoning abilities.
With a passion for curriculum development, faculty development and innovation, Dr. Dalmeida has conducted over 20 workshops on best practices in areas like small group facilitation, integration of basic and clinical sciences, science of learning, technology enhanced learning and virtual instruction. She has chaired key committees driving curricular innovations and learning resource improvements. In 2023, she graduated with a Master’s in Health Professions Education (MEHP), specializing in educational leadership from Johns Hopkins University. When not teaching, she enjoys reading and cooking.
