SGU’s US residency placement rate of 94% pertains to graduates over five years from 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 with the rate calculated as the total number of students/graduates who obtained a US residency divided by the total number of students/graduates who applied to a US residency program in a given year as of April 2025.
Hazarie Ramoutar, BSc, FCCA, MBA
Biography
Hazarie Ramoutar currently serves as the Senior Director of Campus Operations for both Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) and the American University of the Caribbean (AUC) School of Medicine, overseeing campus operations across the two international medical school campuses. Mr. Ramoutar joined Adtalem Global Education in 2008, starting at the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM). There he served in multiple leadership capacities. As Director of the Student Experience, he significantly improved the Net Promoter Score from -14 to +40. His earlier role as Campus Administrator included oversight of a 50-acre St. Kitts campus, managing local human resources, finance, animal care, safety & security, and facilities.
During his tenure at AUC (2017-2021), Mr. Ramoutar played a pivotal role in crisis management, most notably as Incident Commander during Hurricane Irma in September 2017. He successfully ensured the safety of approximately 700 students, faculty, staff, and guests. He subsequently led the campus rebuilding efforts, facilitating a return to operations by January 2018.
After relocating to RUSM in Barbados in 2022—becoming the first Adtalem leader to live and work at all three Adtalem Caribbean campuses—he implemented strategic operational changes resulting in significant annualized savings while maintaining high standards of student experience.
In his current role, Mr. Ramoutar manages a diverse portfolio including facilities, capital projects, safety and security, housing, transportation, and food services. His leadership as the Regional Incident Commander was particularly crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he spearheaded the medical schools' return-to-campus initiatives and established comprehensive safety protocols.
Prior to joining Adtalem, Mr. Ramoutar worked at prominent organizations in the Caribbean in financial management and operations, serving as General Manager of Bryden and Partners, a leading distribution company in St. Lucia, as well as the Group Management Accountant at SL. Horsfords in St. Kitts and worked as an accountant in the retail and manufacturing sectors in Trinidad.
Mr. Ramoutar is currently pursuing his doctorate in business administration (DBA) at Walden University. He holds an MBA from Bradford University (UK) and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. His educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Management from the University of the West Indies, complemented by executive education from institutions including Cambridge University, Yale School of Management, and Northwestern Kellogg, with specializations in high-impact leadership, strategic change management, and negotiations.
