Rita Kirton, PhD

Biography
Dr. Kirton is a Behavioral and Neuroscientist, she is a graduate of The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. She obtained first class honors in Psychology (BA), then high commendation in Education (M.Phil./Ph.D.) with the specialization in Research Psychology. During her graduate studies she was awarded the University Graduate Award (UWI). She also completed several postgraduate training courses, including Medical Neuroscience, University Teaching & Learning, and Research Development Supervisor.
Dr. Kirton has several years of teaching experience, she has been teaching in Barbados since 2011 courses such as Behavioral Science, Neuroscience, Human Psychology, Medical Ethics, Medical Sociology, Behavioral Medicine, Human Development & Behavior, Advanced Developmental Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology, Health Care Concepts, Biological Psychology & Neuroscience, Young Lives in the Caribbean & International, Psychiatry: Personality Disorders & Psychotherapy, Physiological Psychology/Behavioral Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Forensic Psychology, and Personality Theory & Assessment.
Dr. Kirton joined Ross University School of Medicine in 2025 as Instructor of Behavioral Sciences. Her areas of expertise include Behavioral and Neurosciences, Human Psychology, and Medical Ethics.
