Sandra Bynoe, MBBS

Assistant Professor, Clinical Medicine

Sandra Bynoe, MBBS, graduated from the University of the West Indies (UWI) with a Bachelors of medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in 1999. Prior to earning her primary medical degree, Dr. Bynoe obtained a BSc (hons) in Biology from UWI. She completed her residency training in the London Deanery in the United Kingdom and became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2007.

Dr. Bynoe considers herself to be jointly a clinician and an educator and as such, she also holds a MSc in Medical Education from the University of Cardiff. She has an interest in transitions in medical training and her thesis was centered around the transition from junior to senior resident in the London Deanery. She has also designed a course entitled: Preparing for medical practice which is aimed at year 5 medical students. In 2016 she was nominated for an award for excellence in clinical teaching at Kings College London Medical School.

She has worked as a consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist in the National Health Service in the UK from 2011-2018. Her areas of specialty include, menopause, paediatric and adolescent gynaecology, reproductive endocrinology, high risk obstetrics, early pregnancy and acute gynaecology. She is a member of the British Menopause Society.

She has held the following educational roles: Simulation lead for the School of Obstetrics/Gynaecology, Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery and Simulation lead for Darent Valley NHS Trust.

Dr. Bynoe is the founder of the Barbados Menopause Foundation.
