Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine
Snehal Mehta, MBBS, MD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Foundations at Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM). Dr. Mehta did his medical training, including a post graduate residency, in Baroda Medical College of Maharaja Sayajirao University in India. He is ECFMG certified and has more than 15 years of experience in academic medicine. Dr. Mehta has also completed a fellowship in Emergency Medical Services and is a AHA certified Basic Life Support instructor. Before joining RUSM, Dr. Mehta was department chair of Pre-Clinical Sciences at Medical University of the Americas (MUA) in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Dr. Mehta began his professional career working in a multispecialty hospital on medical and surgical floors as well as the emergency department. His academic involvement in various medical schools quickly became his primary interest and it brought him to the Caribbean. He enjoys teaching and the learning process with medical students in clinical skills labs as well as in large classrooms. Integrating various basic science concepts with clinical medicine is his passion. He has actively contributed to the development of competency based and organ system-based curricula. He has served as coordinator of a professional simulated patient program, drug testing program, pre-medical program and hospital rotation program for students. He also has been a faculty advisor for various student associations such as the surgical student association, AMSA, South Asian students and the cricket club.
At RUSM, Dr. Mehta is actively involved in Clinical Skills Small Group Learning (SGL), Enhanced Simulated Patients (ESP) program, and Advanced Interview Skills Training (AIST). He will also participate in the high-fidelity simulation lab, and the “Harvey” cardiopulmonary patient simulator.
