Details for Returning Keys, Picking Up Personal Belongings, Requesting Roommates
We understand your departure from campus earlier this year was not traditional, and we thank you for your adaptability as we continue to navigate the global pandemic together. We are working swiftly to provide a more optimal experience for those students returning in January, and your support in preparing our housing environment is appreciated.
As a reminder, keys to your previously assigned space must be returned via registered mail (or other trackable shipping method), and arrive by November 30, 2020, to avoid a charge of $30 USD per lock, regardless of your return plans*.
In a padded envelope, please include your keys and the following information — first and last name, student ID, assigned house number and bedroom letter — and mail the package to:

Even if you are returning to campus, it is likely you will be reassigned to a different space due to the logistics of quarantining and the need to sanitize every room.

The housing staff is working diligently to prepare for your return.
Students Planning to Return in January
Please confirm your intent to return for the January semester via email to the housing department before November 30 so we can continue to support your return. Once we receive the email, we will pack, transport and store your items at a separate facility, and move your items to your new location upon your return at no charge.
If, for some reason, you decide not to return to island after your items are placed in storage, you will need to arrange to have the items shipped to you or we will dispose/donate your items. You will be responsible for any storage and disposal fees.
Schedule for Packing/Shipping
If you are not returning to island for the January semester, you can arrange to have your items packed/shipped or hire an on-island shipping service. Once you’ve finalized arrangements, please send us an email confirmation by November 30, 2020 with:
- Your name
- Student number
- House number, bedroom letter
- Instructions provided to vendor (i.e., pack all items not belonging to RUSM)
- Name and contact information for company/person accessing your home/room and belongings
- Completed applicable waiver — RUSM, moving company, student moving
We can only grant access to your home if you provide this detailed information.
As a reminder, any student who will not be returning for the Spring 2021 term must arrange to have their personal belongings removed. We have extended the original September deadline to November 30, 2020 to support you during these unprecedented times. If you are unable to meet this deadline, you will be charged a non-refundable $75 USD fee on your student account for RUSM to pack and dispose/donate your items.
