We’ll refund your first-semester tuition if you are a new, first-time matriculating MD student who completed semester 1—including final exams—and earned a failing grade in a semester 1 course or module required to advance to semester 2.
Students eligible for the guarantee receive a tuition reimbursement based on the following formula:
- Tuition assessed minus institutional scholarships or grants received.
Only tuition is included in this guarantee—any fees and other expenses and/or charges are excluded.

RUSM offers our students support through a myriad of personalized academic and wellness resources, including RUSM’s Academy for Teaching and Learning (ATL), which focuses on enhancing our students’ learning techniques and active learning skills. Students at RUSM can also take advantage of smaller study groups, career and personal counseling, and special accommodations for those with disabilities.
If a new first-time matriculating student does not succeed in their first semester, they are eligible to receive 100% of their paid tuition back—guaranteed.
- Students must finish the entire first academic semester to be eligible, including final exams.
- Excludes fees and other associated costs such as housing and materials.
- If a student has received an institutional scholarship/grant award, only the portion of tuition that is not covered by the award will be refunded to the student.
- A student who repeats the first semester and fails a second time will not be eligible.
- Transfer students matriculating with advance standing to AUC or RUSM are not eligible.
- Students who withdraw during their first semester before completion will be subject to prorated refunds as scheduled and outlined in the student handbook and catalog, and will not be eligible for the First Semester Tuition Back Guarantee.
Any new first-time matriculating student joining our university in the first academic semester will be eligible upon completion of the first semester.

No, only tuition is included in the First Semester Tuition Back Guarantee. Administrative fees (i.e., fees associated with academic and student support services, Student Government Association, campus facilities, educational resources, and IT support) and other costs of attendance (i.e., health insurance and housing/dorm charges) are not part of the First Semester Tuition Back Guarantee.
Students can use their tuition refund for any personal or educational purposes, including helping to pay for future tuition.
