Airport: Grantley Adams International Airport

Transportation to campus: An RUSM representative will meet you at the airport and transport you to the RUSM Housing Community.

Please note that round trip flights are required to comply with the Barbados immigration requirements.

Note: If your citizenship is outside of the United States or Canada, you may need to apply for an entry visa (please inquire with your NSC).

ARRIVAL DATES

Students will be notified of the appropriate arrival dates.  Please arrange for a flight for these dates only, as housing will not be available beforehand.  Please book your flight as soon as possible and send a copy of the itinerary to your NSC, to assist the housing staff in the flight roster preparation.

If you have to change your travel plans at the last minute, you must let your NSC know right away.  We will need your new travel plans so we can arrange to have someone meet you at the airport.

GUESTS & COMPANIONS:

It is important that you let your NSC know if any guests, companions (or pets) will be travelling with you when you fly into Barbados.  We need to ensure that we are planning appropriately for all persons and pets being picked up at the airport (semester 1).

Housing

The RUSM residential campus for Medical Sciences students is located within the Villages of Coverley neighborhood in Barbados. Coverley is a residential community with on-site health clinic, grocery store, gym, playing field, gas station, bank, and restaurants, built around a town square. Housing at Coverley includes fully furnished homes configured as 4-bedroom, 3-bath and 3-bedroom, 2-bath units. The Villages at Coverley provide a positive environment for learning and living with many amenities and transportation. We believe RUSM students will feel right at home and will be in a setting to help you succeed.

Rent includes property management, exterior and interior maintenance, personal property insurance, deep cleaning between each semester, Wi-Fi, trash pickup, monthly utility allotment (water, electric, and sewer), access to parking, and gym membership.

HOUSING APPLICATION:

Instructions and log in credentials will be emailed to incoming students to apply for on campus housing. Once logged in, students will be able to fill out their lifestyle preferences and community preferences. These are important steps to help with roommate matching and compatibility.

Please Note:

  • Students should indicate if they are bringing dependents, pets, or have any other special accommodation needs.
  • Students will also be able to form roommate groups in the housing portal. Roommate groups must be at minimum two (2) persons for same gender space assignment.
  • Students can list their preferences for room type from the tiers listed above. Students should be aware that private bathroom spaces are limited so not all 1st preference requests can be granted.
Complete Visa Packet

Please complete the required forms and gather the required documents for your visa packet. Refer to the Barbados requirements for student visa page in the welcome packet. Please let your NSC know if you plan to bring companions and/or children with you to Barbados.

Barbados determines nationality by the country of your passport. If your citizenship is outside of the United States or Canada you may need to apply for an entry visa (in addition to the Student Visa).  Please consult with your NSC to determine if an entry visa is required.

Apply for Disability Accommodations

Office of Student Disability Services

RUSM is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified students with disabilities. RUSM maintains a process for students to use should they wish to request an accommodation. Disabilities must be documented by a medical, health, learning disability, or mental health professional within the last five years.

Students may make requests for accommodations any time during the program. However, it is important to note this is an interactive process that takes time. Students should apply as early as possible prior to the time when the accommodation will be needed as there may be some situations where the request is too late for appropriate arrangements to practicably or reasonably be made prior to the academic event.

Students can start the process by contacting the Office of Student Disability Services (OSDS) at rossmedosds@adtalem.com or by calling 855-229-0848.

Complete Medical Requirements

Please complete the required medical forms and gather the required documents to meet the RUSM medical requirements. Your NSC will send you instructions on how to submit the medical requirements in COMPLIO, our secure online immunization and compliance system.

Pets

Please let your NSC know right away if you plan on bringing a pet to Barbados.  Your NSC will send you a packet of information you need regarding the pet import process.  We also offer pet-friendly housing options.
