Erine Raybon-Rojas, MD

Biography
Erine Olivia Raybon-Rojas, MD ’08, is chair of Internal Medicine and a Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) alumna. In this role, Dr. Raybon-Rojas serves as the chief academic and administrative officer in the Internal Medicine specialty for RUSM, including advising the clinical faculty and monitoring the specialty’s medical education program at each RUSM-affiliated site to ensure academic excellence in the discipline. She will provide guidance and oversight of a well-integrated program of clinical education and training in Internal Medicine and assures the comparability of the Internal Medicine curriculum across all our affiliated sites.
Dr. Raybon-Rojas is a pulmonary critical care intensivist and brings more than 14 years of experience in medical practice, education, community outreach and leadership to the role. After earning an undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia and her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at RUSM, she completed her internal medicine residency and pulmonary/critical care fellowship training at Henry Ford Hospital/Wayne State University, where she also served on the pulmonary and critical care faculty. Since then, she has been a physician leader at Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) in Gainesville, Georgia, advocating for underrepresented and underserved patients in her community.
Dr. Raybon-Rojas currently serves as vice chair, Department of Medicine, and program director, Pulmonary and Critical Care at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC). Additionally, she is director, Medical Intensive Care Unit and Pulmonology curriculum for NGMC’s Department of Internal Medicine graduate medical education, where she is responsible for the education of physician residents from various specialties throughout the healthcare system who rotate through the units. Dr. Raybon-Rojas serves as chair for the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team, creating a multi-disciplinary approach for the care of patients acutely suffering from pulmonary emboli and sequela. Her role also includes participation as principal investigator for the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team consortium registry.
During her time with NGHS, Dr. Raybon-Rojas pioneered the Provider Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Taskforce, a first for the health system. She continues to help ensure employees, patients and their families feel included and represented at NGHS. The taskforce is also responsible for education and actively manages cutting-edge research within the diversity, equity, and inclusion space.
