Mallet Percival Marie, MBBS, graduated from the University of Guyana with a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2002. Dr. Marie is certified and registered with the Caribbean Association of Medical Councils and has been practicing medicine for over sixteen (16) years with the past six (6) being at senior management level. He is an Emergency Trained Physician with at least ten (10) years’ experience in the field with the past six (6) years being spent as Head of the Accident and Emergency Department, Princess Margaret Hospital in the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Dr. Marie has more than twelve (12) years’ experience in teaching/ mentoring of Interns and Medical Students, including from the University of the West Indies and Ross Medical School (Dominica), as well as, Nurses and Junior Doctors. He has practiced in Dominica, Barbados and Bahamas and did clinical rotations in Guyana. Dr. Marie enjoys teaching medical skills and imparting sound knowledge to medical students, young doctors and nurses in order to ensure up-to-date and effective delivery of evidence-based medicine. Dr. Marie is now transitioning fully from clinical practice into clinical teaching. He believes in the principle of “see one, do one, teach one” and is eager to impart his knowledge and experience especially in the area of emergency medicine and tropical medicine.

Such was his interest in teaching that even while in clinical practice he became an Instructor in both Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) through The Society of Surgeons, Trinidad and Tobago Branch and in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through RUSM (Dominica). He is also Mass Casualty trained through the Pan American Health Organization. Dr. Marie has also attended several trainings in the area of disaster management and response and was a member of the National Emergency Planning Organization, Health Sub-committee in Dominica. Additionally, Dr. Marie has been an active member of the World Organization of Scouting (WOSM) for over thirty-five (35) years which has fueled his interest in teaching and imparting sound knowledge, while encouraging young people to explore their full potential so that they could become better global citizens.
