Niels Larsen, PhD

Biography
Niels Larsen was awarded a PhD in Life Sciences from Aarhus University, Denmark in 1994. That was followed by two periods of postdoctoral fellowships in the USA, in the Department of Animal Sciences, University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin, and at Department of Animal Science, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. The research interests during those years were to correlate the genetic maps of humans and farm animals.
The field of interest switched more fully to human genetics with a four year period as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics at Copenhagen University, Denmark. Finally, in 2002, he moved to Ross University School of Medicine, where he teaches medical genetics. Before stopping research, Dr. Larsen published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Association of Professors of Human and Medical Genetics
As a younger person, I was actively involved in comparative gene mapping, working on farm animal and human genomes. Later in my career, I became involved in administration and therefore I have no current research activity.
