Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) alum Jose Cabañas, MD ’05, started his career early in emergency medicine. Cabañas served as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and an emergency dispatcher in Puerto Rico, where he said his interest in the medical field sparked.

Nyemo Mbennah, MD ’21, who matched at Northwell Health in New York, started her internal medicine residency in June — “today was the first day of orientation and I could not be more excited to be welcomed aboard such a nurturing environment.”

Inspired by the medical success of his uncle and cousin, fellow graduates of Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM), alum Vittorio Terrigno, MD ’18, is already following family tradition. The newly selected third-year chief resident at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ, is developing a research curriculum for the organization’s internal medicine department and thanks mentors for his current success.
