Biography
I joined RUSM in 2015 as Associate Dean of Student Affairs. For my first eight years I worked on our medical sciences campus located in Dominica and Barbados (with a short stint in Knoxville, TN!). In student affairs we focus on providing programs and services that positively impact student academic success, wellbeing, community engagement, and personal & professional development. These out-of-classroom experiences are part of what makes Rossies so successful during their medical education and beyond!
Prior to my time in medical education at RUSM I served in a variety of student affairs leadership roles working with undergraduate and graduate students. Areas of oversight have included academic advising, student conduct, campus life, housing and residence life, academic accommodations & disability services, new student orientation, new student experience, recreation & fitness, and outdoor pursuits.
My teaching and curriculum development experiences focus primarily on higher education, communication studies, leadership, and first year student success. Scholarly pursuits have included research, writing, and presenting on student mentorship, student leadership, learning communities, and student success.
I received my Bachelor of Science (B.S) and Master of Science (M.S.) degrees from Murray State University and Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Higher Education Leadership and Policy from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University.
